Data Privacy Statement for the web servers of the Institute of Mathematics at TU Berlin

Thank you for your interest in the web pages of the Institute of Mathematics of the Technische UniversitaetBerlin (hereinafter referred to as IfM). The protection of the personal data of visitors to our website is very important to us. The legal framework for data protection is formed by the EU Data Protection Basic Regulation (EU-GDPR), the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and the Telemedia Act (TMG).

Therefore, we would like to inform you as a visitor to our website on this page about the type, scope and purpose of the collection and use of your data. This data is collected on the basis of our legitimate interests in the efficient and secure provision of our online services in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f GDPR in conjunction with. Art. 28 GDPR.

Access Logs

When you visit our web pages, the web server automatically creates entries in an access log. This data includes the IP address of the requesting computer, the requested page, the access date and time of the request, the previously visited page (the so-called "referrer") and the browser identification ("user agent"), from which the version of the browser, the operating system used and any installed extensions can be determined. This data is collected for reasons of data security, for the recognition and analysis of technical faults and for the purpose of statistical evaluation. The data is protected against access by third parties according to the state of the art and will never be passed on by us to third parties, unless statutory provisions or a court order oblige us to transmit the data to bodies entitled to receive information. During statistical evaluation, the data is made anonymous so that it no longer contains any personal data. The personal data will be deleted automatically after 14 days.

Depending on the browser you are using, you may be able to change your browser ID so that it provides less information and switch off the "referrer" completely. This does not imply any restrictions for our websites, but can cause problems for other websites.

Cookies

For technical reasons, some websites (e.g. created with editorial systems) use session cookies. These are small text files which are only stored on your hard disk for the duration of your visit to our website and are deleted when you close your browser, depending on the settings of your browser program. In principle, this makes it possible to personalise your visits to our websites and to analyse your behaviour more precisely. However, we do not make use of this possibility (see also the note on the use of Matomo below).

In most cases, our websites can also be used without cookies. Most browsers are set to automatically accept cookies, but you can disable cookies (please refer to your browser's help function). However, we would like to point out that some functions of our offer may be impaired and the user comfort is limited. The pages http://www.aboutads.info/choices/ (USA) and http://www.youronlinechoices.com/uk/your-ad-choices/ (Europe) allow you to manage online ad cookies.

Contact requests via e-mail (contact form)

If you send us a contact request to an e-mail address given on the websites, we will automatically save your sender address and the content of the e-mail together with all personal data contained therein on receipt of the e-mail +. We use your sender address only for the purpose of responding to your request. There will be no inclusion in the mailing list, sending of information material or the like, unless you contact us with such a request. Your e-mail address will not be passed on to third parties, unless statutory provisions or a court order oblige us to transfer your data to bodies entitled to receive information.

If you send us personal data by e-mail or by other means which are not your own and for which we have no legal basis for processing, we will delete this message immediately.
If you wish us to delete your e-mail address immediately after answering your inquiry, please let us know in your inquiry. Furthermore, we point out your right to have your data deleted at any time.

Data Minimization

We store personal data in accordance with the principles of data avoidance and data economy only as long as it is required or prescribed by law (legal storage period). If the purpose of the information collected no longer applies or if the storage period ends, we block or delete the data.

Right of information, opposition, cancellation and correction

If you would like to know what personal data we have stored about you, you can obtain information from us at any time. If we have collected personal data from you, you can have it deleted at any time, unless we are obliged by law to store this data for a certain period of time. In the latter case, we will instead immediately block the data so that they can only be used for the fulfilment of legal obligations. Furthermore, you can object to the use of your data or restrict it to certain cases and have incorrectly entered data corrected.
