Summer School: The Combinatorics of Linear and Semidefinite Programming

August 14 - 16, 2012

The purpose of the summer school is to give an introductory overview of some recent exciting results in the area of linear and semidefinite programming, to present current research directions, and to give students working in this or related fields the opportunity to meet and to get to know each other.

LECTURES:

Abstracts and materials are available here. In addition to the lectures, exercises will be solved in small groups with solution sessions in the evenings. The language of the school is English.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION: pdf

AUDIENCE:

The school is addressed to advanced undergraduate students, graduate students, and young postdocs in Mathematics or Computer Science who are interested in optimization, combinatorics, algorithms and related areas. Basic knowledge in combinatorial optimization and linear programming is assumed. Students of other fields are welcome to apply if they have this prerequisite knowledge.

APPLICATION:

The number of participants is limited to about 25. The deadline for application was May 15, 2012. Application has been closed.

ORGANIZATION:

The summer school will take place at Döllnsee, a picturesque lake in a natural reserve 60 km northeast of Berlin.
