The workshop will take place at the Technische Universität Berlin on April 7th and 8th, 2016. The registration fee for the workshop is 80 Euro and must be paid on the first day of the workshop. Prior to the workshop, there will be a summer school on the same topic.

Aims and Scope

This workshop aims at bringing together experts in the field of energy based modeling, simulation, and control with particular emphasis on the framework of port-Hamiltonian systems. Such systems provide an extension of classical Hamiltonian systems by offering internal and external ports for interaction, control, energy storage, and dissipation and allow for a unified modeling approach in networks.

The workshop consists of four sessions, two on each day. Each session contains one invited talk and three to five contributed presentations. The conference dinner will take place on Thursday evening. Travel and Accommodation

Travel Instructions

The workshop will take place at the Technische Universität Berlin, Straße des 17. Juli 136, 10623 Berlin, Germany. The lecture room is located in the Math Buidling (MA), see the map on the right. The nearest airport is the airport Berlin Tegel (TXL). The nearest train station is Zoologischer Garten, the nearest U-Bahn (subway) station is Ernst-Reuter Platz, and the nearest S-Bahn station is Tiergarten. For all described routes that include public transportation you need a regular ticket for the zone AB (zone ABC for Airport Berlin Schönefeld), which costs 2.70 Euro (3.30 Euro).
Train connections and also local transport information can be obtained from the travel service of the Deutsche Bahn. You may use Ernst-Reuter-Platz (U), Berlin or Berlin-Tiergarten as destination.

Arrival via Airport Berlin Tegel

Take the Bus X9 towards S+U Zoologischer Garten and exit at Ernst-Reuter-Platz (approx. 25 min).

Arrival via Airport Berlin Schönefeld

Attention: You need an ABC ticket for this route (3.30 Euro). Walk to the S-Bahn station Flughafen Berlin-Schönefeld Bhf (about 5min) and take the S9 towards S+U Pankow or Landsberger Allee. Switch at station Ostkreuz (9 stops, approx. 25 min) to S7 towards Potsdam Hauptbahnhof. Get off the train at Tiergarten (9 stops, approx. 20 min) and walk to the Math building. Alternatively, you can ride one station further to Zoologischer Garten. For instructions, see Arrival via Zoologischer Garten.

Arrival via Main Station (Hauptbahnhof)

Take a walk to platform 16 (upper level) and take any of the following trains: S5 towards S Spandau Bhf, S7 towards S Potsdam Hauptbahnhof, or S75 towards S Westkreuz. Get off at station Tiergarten (2 stations) and take a walk to the Math building (approx. 7 min). Alternatively, you can ride one station further to Zoologischer Garten. Arrivial via Zoologischer Garten (Train)

You can either walk directly to the Math building (approx. 12 min) or take the subway U2 in direction Ruhleben or Theodor-Heuss-Platz to Ernst-Reuter-Platz (only one station).

Arrivial via ZOB (Fernbus)

Walk (approx. 6 min) to U Kaiserdamm and take U12 towards S+U Warschauer Str. to Ernst-Reuter-Platz (four stops, 6 min).

which will take place at the TU Berlin prior to the workshop on April 4-6, 2016.

The lectures of the summer school will be given by Arjan van der Schaft (University of Groningen) and Peter Breedveld (University of Twente), which are also invited speakers of this workshop. The combination of summer school and workshop provides a nice opportunity for young researchers to get involved with the topic, learn about current research directions and meet distinguished experts in the field. The participants of the summer school will also get an introduction to the software 20-sim and apply their knowledge in complementary exercises.
