Mathematical Signal and Image Processing (MSIP)

Dear colleagues,

We hope you all have an enjoyable summer time. In this newsletter, we would like to inform you about the upcoming workshop of our activity group and the upcoming memorial symposium in honor of Prof. Dr. Bernd Fischer, provide a link to a DFG Priority Programm related to the topic of our group, inform about recent honors and awards for our group members, and ask for suggestions for our activity group's annual report and the GAMM Annual Meeting 2015. As usual, we also include the new job openings and conferences at the end.

Annual MSIP Workshop in Göttingen

The programm of the annual workshop of our activity group, which will take place in the "Waldschlößchen" near Göttingen, Germany from September 1--3, 2014 and is this time entitled "Mathematical Signal Processing and Phase Retrieval", is now online; for more information, please visit http://na.math.uni-goettingen.de/Sigphase14/Signal_phase14.html

Memorial Symposium in Honor of Prof. Dr. Bernd Fischer

In honor of Prof. Dr. Bernd Fischer (1957–2013), Fraunhofer MEVIS and the Universität zu Lübeck will hold a memorial symposium on October 10, 2014 from 2:00 pm at the main lecture hall of the University to honor his scientific achievements and commemorate a special person. More information to this symposium can be found at www.mic.uni-luebeck.de/memorial_symposium.html or from the organizer Prof. Dr. Jan Modersitzki.

Call: SPP on "Compressed Sensing in Information Theory"

We would like to draw your attention to the current call on the DFG Priority Programm "Compressed Sensing in Information Theory" (SPP 1798), see http://dfg.de/foerderung/info_wissenschaft/info_wissenschaft_14_28/index.html. For scientific question, you can contact Gitta Kutyniok (Berlin) or Rudolf Mathar (RWTH Aachen).

Honors and Awards:

We would like to congratulate Felix Krahmer to his successful application of an Emmy Noether group on "RaSenQuaSI: Randomized Sensing and Quantization of Signals and Images".

Annual GAMM Meeting 2016

This meeting will take place in Braunschweig, Germany from 7.3.-13.3.2016. As usual, we will have the opportunity to suggest

  • Plenary Speakers
  • Topics and Organizers of Minisymposia
