ARRIVAL/Matheon Fall School 2006 on Timetabling and Line Planning

September 26, 2006 - September 29, 2006

Märkisches Tagungs-Hotel, Dabendorf near Berlin

Supported by the EC Specific Targeted Research Project ARRIVAL
and by the DFG Research Center Matheon

General Information.

The school will cover models and algorithms for solving two key tasks in railways planning: timetabling and line planning. There will be five sessions held by different experts in this area, see below. The first four sessions consist of about a two hours lecture plus one and a half hours of exercise, in the last session two specialized research projects will be presented in-depth. For each topic (see below) there will be given a gentle introduction, followed by a report on recent advances in this field. These classical planning tasks will also be investigated with respect to the robustness of their results.

Travel Information.

Märkisches Tagungs-Hotel offers a free shuttle service between the hotel and the railway station of Dabendorf. The railway station of Dabendorf is served by two hourly regional train lines.

Click here for detailed "ARRIVAL" times at Dabendorf.

By Train

Both regional train lines serve the completely new station Berlin Hauptbahnhof. The travel time is roughly 45 minutes. Together, both lines offer approximately a half-an-hour service between Berlin Hbf and Dabendorf, leaving Berlin Hbf at minutes 00 and 34, respectively. Finally, there are direct long-distance trains from all major German cities to Berlin Hbf.

Click here for detailed "ARRIVAL" times of long-distance trains at Berlin Hbf (pay attention to Fridays' special trains!).

By Plane

One of the hourly regional train lines that serve Dabendorf stops at the railway station of Airport Berlin Schönefeld (SXF). The travel time is less than 20 minutes. The airport SXF can be reached from many places all over Europe.

Click here to look for a direct flight from your site to SXF.

Further destinations can be reached directly from the two other Berlin airports (Tegel TXL and Tempelhof THF), click here. Tegel, for instance, is connected to Berlin Hbf by an express bus, see "by train".
