MATH+ Topical Semester on Network Games, Tropical Geometry, and Quantum Communication
Call for Participation
The Thematic Einstein Semester runs from April 15 through July 5, 2019 and features three BMS Advanced Courses aiming at leading the attendants to the state of the art of research in the respective fields. The courses combine traditional lectures with projects and presentations by the participants.
How to participate?
Participants are required to take part in at least two out of the three courses. After attending the conference, participants will work on small research projects and present their results in a final workshop.Master's students can get 10 ECTS for successfully completing two courses and a project.
Who can apply?
This call is open to all BMS+ and MATH+ students as well as a limited number of master's students of the three Berlin universities.Application for external graduate students and postdocs is already closed.
How to apply?
BMS+, MATH+ and master's students:
Each applicant should prepare the following documents in a single PDF file:- A cover letter briefly describing your interest in the program, stating which of the three courses (network games, tropical geometry and quantum communication) you plan to attend,
- a CV including academic qualification and grades,
- a reference letter of at most one page by your PhD supervisor (for the PhD students) or the name of one BMS faculty member willing to support your application (for the master's students; no letter is necessary).
The deadline for application is March 15, 2019.
PhD students and postdoctoral researcher:
Each applicant should prepare the following documents in a single PDF file:- A cover letter briefly describing your interest in the program, stating which of the three courses (network games, tropical geometry and quantum communication) you plan to attend, and whether you wish to apply for housing,
- a CV including a list of publications,
- a reference letter of at most one page by your PhD supervisor or postdoctoral mentor showing their support of your application,
- a research statement of at most one page.
The deadline for application is February 1, 2019.
