Re: JOGL renderer uses unsupported method

Thanks for the hint with the rebuild.
I have a "ATI MOBILITY RADEON 7500" (notebook graphics card) with the newest driver.

JOGL renderer uses unsupported method

Hi, with the "old" jreality release from 2009-03-13, the rendering worked fine. After I integrated the "new" jreality.jar from 2009-06-08, I get this exception and the rendering isn't done (JOGL renderer only): Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" javax.media.opengl.GLException: Method "glBlendFun...

U3D writer renders lines always as tubes

Hi, the U3D writer renders lines with a width of 1.0 as tubes, instead of real lines like the JOGL- and softviewer: 3 lines as triangle (JOGL renderer): http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/7336/joglviewer.gif Same geometry exported into U3D file: http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/5571/u3d.gif Heres th...

The hint of gunn worked. If I use ... IndexedFaceSetUtility.makeConsistentOrientation(ifs); IndexedFaceSetUtility.calculateAndSetNormals(ifs); ... the representations in JOGL and softviewer look identical (flat and smooth shading). But to give steffen the possibility to see what I saw, I tried to sh...

Hmm ... mysterious. If I use a JTabbedPane instead of JInternalFrames, I can close the loaded models without affecting the other models. So the bug has to be searched in my code (or it has something to do with the JInternalFrames). I checked out the current sources. The memory is released in all my ...

I use jReality for a file viewer, so I can't ensure, that the processors, which wrote the CAD files, create correct windings / orientations. When I use the helper function "makeConsistentOrientation", the flat shading, which was OK, has the same chessboard pattern like the smooth shading without the...

Hi Steffen, I played around with the profiler and found the other memory leaks (when the mouse tools are used). Here is a complete code, which helps the GarbageCollector to remove all of the objects, creating memory leaks. I think it would make sense to put the code into ViewerApp.dispose(). It also...

Hi, I also fixed the JOGL memory leak. Here is the code: The enhanced helper method from previous post: /** * Start preparing the objects to be removable by teh garbage collector. */ public void dispose(){ prepareMemoryCleanUp(_viewerApp.getSceneRoot()); // Help the JOGL viewer to release memory if(...

Due to the fact, the softviewer and the JOGL flat shading can handle the alternating normals, will the JOGL smooth shading be adapted?

OK, I created a little fix (see bottom of this post), here are my results: The memory leak occured, because the SceneGraphComponents still were referenced and couldn't be removed by the GarbageCollector. My little helper method fixes this issue for some cases. If the SceneGraphComponents are disconn...

Hi STRESS, there's no difference between the viewers and their memory usage: Softviewer: Before creating geometry: 0 / 4 / 63 MB scene root is root Viewer: de.jreality.softviewer.SoftViewer[,0,0,0x0,invalid] After creating geometry: 19 / 23 / 63 MB After garbage collection: 17 / 31 / 63 MB JOGL: Bef...

Problems with releasing memory

Hi, I have an application, which allows to load CAD files, visualized with jReality. If one of these files is closed, the allocated memory isn't released. I examined the problem and came to the conclusion, that the ViewerApp class doesn't release the memory. Could this be correct or is there an offi...

I asked a friend with a Mac. He also could reproduce the problem. After switching to non perspective mode with the soft viewer, the camera seems to be placed into the model, instead of viewing it completly.
