jReality in perspective

Five years ago or so I spent a lot of time learning java3D and 3D programming in general, after having developed some apps I got busy on other things. I continued my work on 3D this year and I found out that Java3D was more or less frozen, i.e. in development for JavaFX, which isn't gaining much momentum imho. Since this project started well before the Oracle take-over of Sun who knows what the future of JavaFX will be.
I looked around for other, more alive alternatives and that's how I found jReality. So far so good.
Before Java3D I used Javaview somewhat. It looks as though Javaview has been abandoned as well. Does anyone know more about this?
