Acrobat Reader 9.3 - 3D-PDF parsing error

Post by nilsAC » Mon 1. Feb 2010, 09:35

hi,
I use the JRViewerVR-application to convert obj-files into 3D-PDFs. Since the last update (9.3 / 8.2) of Adobe's Acrobat Reader, these files cannot be opened. The reader reports: "a 3D data parsing error has occured". Any ideas ?

Greetings from Aachen,

Same here, we are also getting this error after the update. Old versions work fine.

Hi there,
we have noticed that problem, and have begun analyzing. It seems that Adobe
changed U3D things in this this release. We let you know once we have found the problem.

Finally I can anounce that the u3d export problem seems to be solved.
Please have a look at the latest update and tell me if the adobe reader can open your files.
Please keep testing this export module as this error was present for the last year. As a
side effect of this the tube sizes are correct too.

Hi,
we are again facing a problem with the u3d-export. In Acrobat 9 it works fine, but in Acrobat X 10.1 only a black object appears. Maybe Adobe again changed u3d specifications.

This Adobe Reader X Bug has been identified. It is a lighting configuration problem. For a workaround, please activate the PDF Inventory Option from the export panel. Then select a lighting configuration, like "CAD optimized lighting" from the Adobe Reader accessory manually.
We hope to fix this anoying bug shortly.

The roblem is fixed now. It was an issue in the initialization javascript that prevented the lighting mode from beeing set. Its unclear whether this is intended behavior or a bug in Reader X. Anyway its fixed, please update from the SVN.
