Change in how jReality specifies noneuclidean spaces

Post by gunn » Mon 15. Dec 2008, 18:54

In anticipation of getting off to a new start in the New Year, I've just carried a general refactoring on the svn repository, to replace the use of the term ''signature'' with the more precise term ''metric'' in all places where it occurs in the current source tree.

That should not effect many users, since as far as I know I and a few others known personally to me are the only jReality users which are actively using noneuclidean metrics.

However, there may be problems if you have implemented the Viewer interface, since there are get/set methods getSignature()/setSignature() have been replaced by getMetric()/setMetric(). But since the original methods themselves have been deprecated, the best thing would be for us to remove these methods entirely. Which is what we'll do as soon as we have another jReality meeting after the holidays and can get approval for this.

P.S. Given the fact that the methods for specifying the metric (signature) via the Viewer interface have been deprecated for years, I've gone ahead and taken the liberty of removing them from the interface and also all references in the svn repository. You can savely remove any references to these methods from your code.
