Aim:

This workshop is organized jointly by the "Komitee für mathematische Modellierung, Simulation und Optimierung" (KoMSO) and the ERC research project "Modeling, Simulation and Control of Multi-Physics Systems". The goal is to highlight the state-of-the-art and to identify the challenges in modeling, simulation and optimization (MSO) Tools, to bring together developers and users of MSO tools in academia and industry. Special emphasis will be given to multiphysics applications in multibody systems, electrical circuits, bioprocess engineering, chemical reactions, thermodynamics and fluid dynamics.

The presentations and discussions will cover
- the challenges in virtual and automated modeling of multi-physics systems,
- the challenges in the simulation of multi-physics systems,
- the challenges in the optimization of multi-physics systems,
- the challenges in coupling substructures in multi-physics systems,
- the challenges in managing uncertainty in multi-physics systems.

The workshop aims to access and address the future challenges for mathematical research, cooperation structures enabling efficient cooperation, and funding structures adapted to the specific requirements of heterogeneous cultures of research.

Every invited and contributed talk should address the state of the art and current challenges with respect to applications and software development.
