Welcome to COMinDS2019

Welcome to the 2019 Workshop on "Computational and Mathematical Methods in Data Science"! This workshop will take place on October 24 and 25, 2019 at the Zuse Instutite Berlin (ZIB).

The goal of this workshop is to bring together mathematicians and other scientists working (or being interested) in all aspects of the rich and exciting area of computational and mathematical methods in data science. It will feature Francis Bach, Alexandra Carpentier, and Arnulf Jentzen as plenary speakers as well as invited lectures showing the full breadth of this novel research field, while giving participants the opportunity to connect with fellow researchers at different afternoon events and to present own projects during the poster session.

This workshop also serves as the kick-off event of the new GAMM Activity Group on Computational and Mathematical Methods in Data Science (COMinDS), whose goal it is to provide a platform for researchers interested in or working on projects in the area of computational and mathematical methods in data science. Additionally, the event is closely linked to the MATH+ Activity Group for Mathematics of Data Science (MATH+ MoDS).

The workshop is organized by Tim Conrad (FU Berlin), Gitta Kutyniok (TU Berlin), Christof Schütte (ZIB), and Martin Stoll (University of Chemnitz).
