Newsletter 06/2013

Dear colleagues,

we would like to start by congratulating our member Dr. Martin Storath for being elected as a GAMM Junior Fellow. Besides these great news, we will below pose a call for nominations for the GAMM board and announce our next annual workshop in 2014.

Since this will be the last newsletter before the holiday break, we would also like to wish you already at this point happy holidays and all the best for the coming year.

Elections of the GAMM Board

The next elections for the GAMM Board will take place at the Annual GAMM Meeting 2014 in Erlangen/Nürnberg. For this, the GAMM president posed a call for new board members, presumably most interesting for us for a position in the area of analysis as a successor of Prof. Griewank. Each nomination has to be accompanied by at least 5 letters of support with one person nominating the candidate explicitly. To coordinate this, it would be advantageous, if you could let us know in case you plan to nominate a candidate from our group. The deadline is January 15, 2014.

GAMM MSIP-Workshop in Göttingen

Our next Annual Workshop will take place September 1-3, 2014 in the Waldschlösschen Göttingen. Please keep those dates free. We will let you know once the webpage is set up and registration starts.

GAMM Junior Fellow

Dr. Martin Storath finished his PhD in 2013 at the Technische Universität (TU) München supervised by Prof. Forster-Heinlein and is currently a Post-Doctoral Researcher in the Biomedical Imaging Group at EPFL. The main theme of his thesis is the application of microlocal analysis methods to imaging science problems.

With best regards,

Gitta Kutyniok, Gerlind Plonka, and Gabriele Steidl
