Householder Symposium XVII → Travel Information

Since we don't know the participants' arrival times, we are unable to organize shared taxis rides.

Householder XVII will be held June 1-6, 2008, in Zeuthen, Germany, a small town on the south-east border of the German capital Berlin. For some pictures of the town of Zeuthen, click here.
The conference venue is the 4-star Seehotel Zeuthen. For an overview of the area, click on The Hotel and then How to Find us on the hotel's web site. This map also shows the locations of Berlin's two main airports, Tegel (TXL) and Schönefeld (SFX).

Arrival by plane: After arriving at TXL or SFX, you can get to the Seehotel either by taxi transfer or by public transportation.

For a taxi transfer you may of course use any taxi waiting at your arrival airport, or you may prearrange a transfer with the hotel's preferred taxi company (see the description and phone numbers under How to Find us; fixed prices with the preferred company are 53 Euros from TXL and 25 Euros from SXF).
To find a public transportation connection, click on the website of the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG). Under Journey Planner (rightmost box), enter "TXL" (or "SXF") and "S Zeuthen" as well as your travel date and time. You will get a number of connections taking you from the airport to the S-Bahn station Zeuthen. Trip times are approx. 1h 10 min. from TXL and 40 min. from SXF. The ticket price is 2,80 Euro from TXL ("Berlin ABC" ticket) and 2,50 Euro from SXF ("Berlin BC" ticket). Tickets are available from every bus driver, or from machines at every S-Bahn and U-Bahn station. A free hotel shuttle is available from the S-Bahn station Zeuthen to the Seehotel. When you arrive at the S-Bahn station Zeuthen, take the exit Goethestrasse and call the hotel front desk. It typically takes only a few minutes until the shuttle arrives (it took 3 minutes when we tested it). The distance from the S-Bahn station Zeuthen to the Seehotel is 1.9 km. See this Google map.

Arrival by train: After arriving at Berlin Hauptbahnhof (HBF) you can get to the Seehotel either by taxi transfer or by public transportation.

For a taxi transfer you may of course use any taxi waiting at the Hauptbahnhof, or you may prearrange a transfer with the hotel's preferred taxi company (see the description and phone numbers under How to Find us; the fixed price with the preferred company is approx. 45 Euros from HBF). In the registration form we ask for estimated arrival times. A few weeks before the meeting we will post a list with the responses so that you can organize joint rides to reduce the cost.
