On 20, 21, and 24 September 2021 the annual IRTG-CDT summer school took place at the Harnack-Haus owned by the Max Planck Society.
Unfortunately, the pandemic situation did still not allow travel between the UK and Germany, but a strong interaction between the groups in Oxford and Berlin has characterised the event nonetheless.
Notwithstanding travel restrictions, we have been able to accommodate Oxford’s Ben Fehrman in person who gave a fantastic mini-course on Stochastic Homogenisation. His presentations have been complemented by 10 CDT PhD students and post-docs based at Oxford who have presented their current research. On the Berlin side, we have been fortunate to listen to 3 PhD candidates who are planning to spend time abroad at Oxford as part of our joint doctoral programme early next year. In addition, 5 PIs and 1 post-doc based in Berlin have given an overview of their research interest and forthcoming agendas.
