About MDS

The Research Training Group (Graduiertenkolleg) METHODS FOR DISCRETE STRUCTURES hosted at the three Berlin Universities is supported by the German Research Foundation (DFG).

The program started October 1, 2006. It offers scholarships for Ph.D. students and one postdoc position. The guidelines for scholarship holders can be found here.

The scientific program treats combinatorics and discrete mathematics broadly --- with an emphasis on methods, particularly,

The course program consists of the Monday Afternoon Colloquium lectures, block courses, summer schools, regular predoc programs:

The very lively Berlin mathematics context, also includes the DFG Research Center MATHEON and several more specific programs in discrete mathematics:

Students of the MDS program may apply to be members of the BERLIN MATHEMATICAL SCHOOL, a joint international graduate program of the three major Berlin universities.
